Barrel Description

The Cezanne pencil shaft is round, lacquered and attractive. The upper half of the pencil displays the color representing the pencil’s pigment. However, the colorCezanne Colored Pencils does not correctly correspond to the pigment color. I always create a color swatch to identify each pencil’s actual color. A decorative lighter silver band separates this color from the lower half of the pencil, which is a darker silver. The Cezanne logo and color number are listed on the barrel. Each pencil comes pre-sharpened. [Return to TOC]

Lightfast Rating

No rating. Lightfastness is a property of a colorant such as dye or pigment that describes how resistant to fading it is when exposed to light. Lightfast rating is essential to artists, especially when they spend long hours creating art; they will want the work of art to keep its vibrancy for years to come. The lightfastness has a lot to do with the higher cost of the pencils. [Return to TOC]

Range of Colors

The Cezanne Colored Pencils are creamy, soft wax-core with a broad range of color selections. In the 120-pencil set, you have a good range of color choices that include reds, blues, yellows, pinks and greens, with a more limited range of tans and browns. As I swatched the colors, I felt like a number of the colors seemed to be close, if not redundant, to one another.

The 12 and 24-set sizes focus on the pencils you use most often. If your budget allows, I would consider purchasing one of the larger sets, such as the 120. Cezanne’s colored pencilsCezanne Colored Pencils 1 did not have associated color names and numbers on the pencil shafts. The pencils focus on color numbers; for example, the color red was 003. The color white is weak and is better used as a blender.

I would have liked to have seen the name of the color for each pencil. Cezanne colored pencils are not available as open stock, and the color does not do well as a stand-alone color. Some of the 120 pencil pallet’s colors seemed redundant to other colors.

Before using the colors on a project, I would recommend that you swatch the colors for the set (and for every pencil you own) rather than relying on the color printed on the pencil barrel. This will help you make wiser and more appropriate color choices. [Return to TOC]

Container Description

The pencils come in a shrink-wrapped hinged tin case. In the tin, there is 3 set of 40 pencils that are easy to remove from the tin with elastic straps on each side of each tray. The tin is perfect for mobility. You can get the 120 set in a beautiful box if you want to spend more. I chose the tin because I transferred the pencils to a sturdy caring case to protect them. First Inspection

As a habit, when I first open the box of pencils, I like first to check pencil duplications and missing pencils. Check to make sure the cores are centered. Next, I will check them for pencils for imperfections (e.g., shaft spits, broken cores, light printing).

The Cezanne Colored Pencils were a set of 120 pencils. The pencils come in a shrink-wrapped hinged tin case. The pencils are professional looking and have a good range of bright and vibrant colors. In the tin, there is 3 set of 40 pencils that are easy to remove from the tin with elastic straps on each side of each tray. The pencils come pre-sharpened with a blunt point. All of the set’s 120 pencils were accounted for with no duplications. Cezanne colored pencils did not have associated color names and numbers on the pencil shafts. The pencils focus on color numbers; for example, the color red was 003. Every aspect of the pencil quality, from lead to printing, appeared sharp without a flaw. There were no broken tips or dust. Overall, I was delighted with the presentation and quality of the pencils. [Return to TOC]

Cezanne Colored Pencils Review and Summary

In this section, I move beyond the description and facts of the colored pencils. I am going to provide my subjective/personal review based on my experience, research, and the performance of colored pencils in activities like coloring books, pages and sheets and answer the question; I am focused on answering the questions like

  • What do you think about Cezanne Colored Pencils?
  • Are the Cezanne better than other colored pencils?
  • What are the Cezanne Colored Pencils’ pros and cons?
  • What are some tips on making the best purchase decision?”.

How the Colored Pencils Performed

The Cezanne colored pencils are a waxed-base, medium-hardness core. The pencil cores have a little more wax than other wax-based pencils, which can expand their durability, help them last longer, make them resistant to breakage, and require constant sharpening. The pencilsCezanne Colored Pencils Performance are nice looking and have a nice feel on my hands. Some colors felt a little scratchy and required more coloring to get the same coverage.

The color palette is sufficient to allow me to color an image in any themed adult coloring book. You can experience wax bloom with layering with Cezanne colored pencils. Colors seemed to blend into one another well. If you use white in coloring, consider adding the Prismacolor white to the set for more versatility. You can use the Cezanne white for blending. The pencils perform well on various paper surfaces, with the best pigment saturation coming from textured surfaces.

When pressing a little too hard during coloring, leads seem to break and splinter easily in the shaft, which can cause a waste of a lot of good pencils during the sharpening process. Cezanne colored pencils sharpen to a point well, and the pencils sharpen well in either a handheld, electric sharpener, or blade. Several of the pencil cores were not centered and tended to break and splinter when sharpening, and you often needed to sharpen the pencil.

There are various ways to determine how you gain the most from the Cezanne colored pencil. You can use the Cezanne coloring pencil

  •  As your sole source of a coloring pencil.
  • For practice, before you use more expensive pencils (e.g., Pablo’s, Polychromos)
  • For sharing with others in family projects.
  • For non-permanent work.

Tips for Purchasing

Usually, before purchasing, it is advisable to get a feel of the pencils by either purchasing a small set or individual pencils when you can buy open-stock or if you know someone who hasCezanne Colored Pencils 3 the pencils can try theirs.

Cezanne Colored Pencils are considered a budget (i.e., under .50 cents per pencil) and come in set sizes of 6, 12, 24, 72, and 120 pencils. Because Cezanne colored pencils do not come in open stock, the 12 and 24-set sizes often focus on the pencils you use. If your budget allows, I would consider purchasing one of the larger sets, such as the 120. Another good way to learn about the performance is to read reviews like this, view YouTube reviews, and read Amazon reviews.

I suggest getting the most extensive set you can afford to avoid duplicates and give yourself a full pallet of colors. In the long run, I feel like I save the most, and I especially look for special promotions during the holiday seasons and put out price watches on my favorite eCommerce sites.
